Two weeks after being named the U.S. Ryder Cup captain for the 2025 matches at Bethpage Black, Keegan Bradley made his first decision.
The 2011 PGA Championship winner selected Webb Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open champion, to be his first vice captain. The Ryder Cup is Sept. 26-28, 2025, in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Simpson, 38, is a seven-time PGA Tour winner and played on three Ryder Cups (2012, ’14, ’18), compiling a 4-4-1 career record. Bradley and Simpson were on the same teams together in 2012 and 2014.
“Webb is someone who I have long admired and respected as a competitor and friend,” Bradley said. “He possesses a wealth of team. Golf experience and knows what it takes to win. Webb will be a valuable member of our leadership team and a trusted resource for me as we prepare for Bethpage Black next September.”
Said Simpson: “I am honored to be chosen by Keegan to serve as a vice captain in 2025. Competing in three Ryder Cups will forever be among my career highlights. I have no doubt that Keegan will be a fantastic captain and a tremendous leader and could not be more excited to get to work as we seek to reclaim the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.”
Simpson also played on victorious U.S. Presidents Cup teams in 2011, ’13 and ’19. In 12 events this year on the PGA Tour, Simpson has missed three cuts and his best finish is a tie for 24th place at the Well Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow, where he is a member. He ranks 143rd in the FedEx Cup standings.
Bradley said that he would be announcing more vice captain selections at a later date.
